25 July 2008 - All new Garage Doors adhere to stringent safety regulations; this however does not cover doors older than 6 or 7 years old. Doing a survey today it was brought home to me how dangerous many Garage Doors are. The owner of the house had a special way of edging the door up, it kept poping out of the tracks and when he had managed to get it almost up he had a piece of timber to jam the door in place. The door is a big double door that weights about 200kg - What would happen if he slipped ?? Any door over 10 years old should be checked annually ( mot ) and serviced.
